Isidore Bishop-Sauve's artistic practice originates in intimate assemblages created within cigarette tins. These miniature cabinets of wonder house carefully curated collections of found natural objects and printed matter, creating delicate compositions that explore themes of natural history and queer identity.

These assemblages serve as starting points for Isidore’s large-scale paintings, which capture the raw energy and metamorphic potential of both paint and nature. Working rapidly over several days, he creates dramatic scenes where animals and male figures exist in states of simultaneous creation and explosion. His dynamic approach to paint application, allowing it to react, bleed, and burst on both floor and wall, mirrors the adaptive resilience he observes in nature, where flowers push through concrete and species evolve in endless variety.

Isidore's work contributes to queer historical narratives by celebrating joy and intimacy while moving beyond reductive interpretations of sexuality, drawing romantic links between animal and human nature and celebrating varied expressions of identity. Through his practice, he preserves fleeting moments of connection and transformation, treating both paint and subject matter with a reverence that acknowledges their wild, untameable essence.

A graduate of the Slade School of Fine Art, Isidore approaches his practice with the sensibility of what he calls a "wild gardener," releasing the inherent energy of his materials while maintaining a deep respect for their autonomy and power.
